Director's Statement
I wrote this story as a love letter to my fiercely independent mother. We’ve longed to see stories that capture the experience of a mature single South Asian woman, within a culture that prioritizes marriage and partnership above all else. We want this story to resonate with all South Asian women, and with anyone who has felt “othered” for living a life outside the norm. It celebrates breaking tradition and living a life that previous generations couldn’t imagine. Mehr is bold, funny, and unapologetically herself. We hope audiences see that joy on screen.
